Chicken time in Oparau roadhouse

A free campsite with house, wifi, shower and more ... even more chicken ... fiesta for the half vegetarian european...

Waikere waterfall

We did another trip close to Matamata to the Waikere waterfalls, the highest in the north island. We had a nice hike up to the top where we could see the water falling down from the cliff.

The i-site Hobbithome

We went to Matamata to Hobbiton but the 75$ entry were a bit too expensive for us ... but we found another Hobbithome: the i-site of Matamata


So here just some outside picture of thev real movie set... sorry we did not want to pay 75 dollar each..

You can see how I love those kind of tourists places.

But here the i-site of the little town, amazingly well done.

Tongariro crossing and surroundings

Ah finally we had the opportunity and the money to do a famous (part) of a Great Walk : The Tongariro crossing. Around 20 km : http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/tracks-and-walks/central-north-island/ruapehu/tongariro-alpine-crossing/

This one is considered as the best one day walk of NZ and it is easy understandable. Not everyday that you can walk so close to a Mars landscapes with active volcanoes.

The track is just an autobhan...(highway), just people everywhere, but it is really worth.
